Wow - this one took awhile! lol. Great challenge though, really made me think outside the square.
The butterfly layer was created by inking the stamp in Pumpkin, Sponging Rust and Ruby Red directly onto the stamp, stamping on watercolour paper - then spritzing the paper with water. It needed something else, so I mixed a drop of Cranberry Crisp with water, and splattered it on with a paintbrush. (You should see my t-shirt - Baby Blue with a hint of Cranberry anyone?)
I had been reading about making your own glimmer mist with hairspray and Pearl Ex yesterday, so decided to give that a shot. I mixed some white Pearl Ex with a shimmer type hairspray in a spray bottle (added beads to help it mix well) then sprayed that over the layer. In real life it has the most beautiful shimmer - not over the top sparkly, just right.
Then.....(are you sensing a novel here?) I found I didn't have any black brads! So I found some horrible red metallic things I've had forever, and covered them in black embossing powder. They turned out really well - but I broke my heat tool in the process! Those are some expensive homemade brads! It's still going - but the fan appears to be shot. Oh well, one must suffer for it to be art, right?
All the layers were sponged with Pumpkin Pie, then Really Rust. The butterfly was embossed in black then sponged with a little colour. The sentiment and butterfly layer are up on dimensionals - the butterfly was too small so I layered three mini glue dots together.
Whew! Ok, so it took awhile - but I'm happy with it, I would have been so upset if this one had ended up in the bin after all that!
TFL!
