I came home to find this sitting on the table that my 11 yr old DS (who wants to be an artist and farmer when he grows up) made for my niece's bd which is later this month! I love it!!!!!! He totally did the whole thing on his own! Not to be biased or anything, but MAN he is good. LOL!! I colors better than I do w/ the prismas and gamsol!!
another thing (sorry can't keep bragging Ü) is that the plaid is not where the card opens, it opens by the tag, pull it and the pink part opens where he wrote Happy Birthday Emma!
I just keep looking at the shading he did and am in awe!

thank you everyone for your kind comments! He is just bursting w/ all your words of praise. He can draw, design and color like no kid I have ever seen since he was 2!! You all have just made his day.

I want to see his "proof of age" card! LOL For goodness sakes, that boy already IS an artist!! This work shows attention to detail, with his torn main image and the two added ribbons. The long ribbon is placed perfectly on the background to draw the eye to a horizon line one third below the top. The stamped images are off center, making it more interesting and appealing to look at. His shading is superb, leaving enough light areas to suggest where the light is coming from, all on the right side, with the dark shadows all on the left. He balanced the whole thing like an expert would. He also took liberty to not follow the majority and gave it a unique opening.
I'd say your DS already has an enormous jump on most people. It is obvious he has talent in art, for he shows a natural instinct for the things that a lot of people have to go to college to learn. I applaud him, and Mom, you should be so proud!
