My main goal was to do today's challenges: sketch and WCW-painting leaves. But one thing led to another, as usual, and I'm submitting this for the ABC19J is for jade and this past Monday's TLC-misted marker vellum.
The WCW was simply practice making leaves and stems. If there is anything in watercolor that I have really struggled with, it's leaves and since I love them, that has been frustrating. Two things helped today-I turned my paper often and I took my time. I get cocky and I get faster and messier. Like the video, I did a whole piece of paper with all the leaves she demonstrated.
To make this work with the sketch, I decided to use the whole piece of practice paper and cut it apart for the sketch. I still had a piece from the TLC so I cut more leaves and added them to a vellum circle, popped up.
As far as the ABC19J is for jade, jade can come in many colors, usually green but also yellow and white. And many shades of green, from very pale to quite dark. Jade is a mineral, best known for its ornamental use in East, South and Southeast Asia. Very fine jade can be very rare.
Thanks for the challenges! I really enjoyed the video for WCW...she's a good teacher.
