This is for today's sketch and yesterday's teaparty for Teri. Teri's late husband loved pirates and we were supposed to do something with that or treasure or the like. She also likes tye dye. Had no pirates so I found a sentiment about treasure.
I used a new to me technique for the background. Basically it's using Yupo paper like a gel plate. I put a yellow alcohol Pearl ink on the Yupo along with some blending solution and used a felted ink applicator to create a base. Used a variety of ai on top, creating small dots, used the applicator with some blending solution and also a paint brush to keep the dots small. When I was happy, I brayered a layer of the lift ink and put the white card on top and pressed. It gives sort of an impressionistic look and you can get 3 or 4 prints, each time applying the lift ink. They get progressively lighter but still pretty. I used a first print for the base and a lighter print for the cross piece and the two flowers. The lemon burst ep adds a nice subtle glow to the cross piece, the flowers and the edges of the oval. Maybe this card is a little too pretty for Teri but I liked the treasure idea and wanted to use one of my new backgrounds. I did about 10-12. As always, one never knows what one gets with ai. If you're interested in the technique, look up Lavinia Stamps on YouTube.

Beautiful card and sentiment. That technique did yield a fabulous background. I will have to circle back and see if I can achieve anything like this. I have only used the lift ink once...need I say more. Stunning success for you, though.

Wow. What a cool look for that bg. Beautiful flowers and colors and metallic thread, Jean. Gorgeous card. Hugz
