The Clean & Simple Challenge, CAS542 - French Bastille Days - 7/15/19, was to create a card using something that reminds you of France.
When I was making my first card for this challenge, I rediscovered some vintage pages from a French dictionary that a dear friend shared with me many years ago. I couldnât bring myself to cut into these amazing treasures at the time, but decided that today was the day to use them.
I went old-school in the tools and embellishments that I used for this card. Using an old EK Success flower punch, I was able make the flowers for this card using only a small fraction of one of the pages. I have lots left to make many more cards! Yeah!
The buttons were adhered to the delicate (flimsy!) flowers with a tiny glue dot, after I threaded natural twine through holes to make them look sewed on.
The trickiest part of this very simple design was getting the twine to behave. I knotted 3 lengths of green twine together, cut them in staggered lengths and then glue-dotted the twine to the back of the flowers. From there it was a matter of placing the flowers on the card front (that was the tricky part! Ha...).
I finished it off with a tiny sentiment tag that had a tie made from a scrap of crochet thread.
This was a quick and fun card to make for the Clean & Simple France Challenge. Thanks for breezing by and peeking at my vintage French Dictionary Posies!
