When viewing the gallery this week I noted that the CAS challenge was about Framing and the MMTPT challenge was for a sweet friend who loves vintage items and needs some cheer. I knew I wanted to do both challenges but was short on time AND energy due to much overtime at work right now. My story:
I was lounging in the easy chair with a glass of wine (19 Criminals Dark Red) and a Senior Sleuth novel on my Kindle. Right when it was getting to a good part, Hubby announced he had bought me something at a garage sale that morning. There is no telling what he might buy me, and he was looking kind of sheepish so I was a bit concerned. He handed me a bag. It was a bag of crafting embellishments - very good ones. There was probably 20 packages of butterflies and nice 3-D stickers and things. He paid $2 for it. I was proud of him. In the package was a set of clear frames (like the one I have over my love you sentiment) and a package with hearts (like the one I have on the frame). I was thinking of how sweet he was and then remembered that last year, his brother brought me a bunch of vintage advertisements someone had glued into an old scrapbook that was falling apart. I knew I could combine these things into a great card for Carol. So I hopped up, got some coffee going and made this card. I think these advertisements are very old and I am going to send a bunch of them to Carol too. Some are laundry soap ads and some are shoe or perfume. They are the original ones and are sooo pretty. Yay for hubby and his brother. BTW - hubby was super proud he had a part in this.
Hugz to you all and especially to Carol.

Oh, sweet Nancy! There aren't adequate words for what you've shared about your DH and the special "gift" he brought you to make such a sweet and loving card for Carol. She is going to LOVE it along with the extra "gifts" you'll be sending along to her. What a precious card with this vintage and sweet advertisement! Oh, I think so many of the old things are so dear and cherished, and I agree with Sabrina that I LOVE how you create and use corrugated backgrounds. This is stunning, and it's certainly a gift of both art and heart!! Hugs and love, sweet friend! xoxo
