I know when people hear that I'm from Minnesota the first thing they think of is the cold and snow..and yes, we do have that. Infact we've been in a cold snap for the last week or so..I've worn my long underwear a lot lately. But for me, it's all about the LAKES! As our license plates tout, we are the land of 10,000 Lakes. Actually the true number is 11,842 taking into account that they include everything..puddles, standing water, wishing wells... I was amazed by the fact that in the Twin Cities where I live there are 31 lakes within the city limits of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Minnesota is a Dakota word meaning clear blue water. I grew up about 20 miles from the Cities and we had a lake across the street
I guess I was in a silly mood when I came up with this card. The couple stamp came from Francie (f.schles)...I gave it a comic book sort of treatment backing it with the big polka dots. I added the text of the bubble...I had quite a few ideas I could have used but thought this would be funny especially if I paired it with a fisherman in a boat. My background is a gelli plate one I had in my stash. The fisherman is a combo of 3 stamps that I cut and pieced together.
A funny aside...my parents had a speed boat before I was born. My dad would always say that the two best days in owning a boat are the day you bought it and the day you sold it. LOL..Thanks for looking! And come visit Minnesota (in the summer of course) and check out all our lakes!

I knew that stamp was ment for you, Polly. You did a great job coloring it. Your card sure made me laugh. The city should hire you for their tourism dept to make their advertisments. Thanks for the pm, with little gallery time tgese days I miss do many cards.

This is terrifically amusing!! Unloved the comic book flair you gave it!! I did go to Minnesota in the summer a few years back. The reception was near a lake

Polly,
Hello neighbor, I'm in Wisconsin and yes the lakes are fantastic in both states! I love your card, it triggered a memory for me when my dad used to take my brothers fishing! It didn't happen often but when they were planning on going they would soak the lawn in the backyard and wait for all those worms to come to the surface! My second oldest brother would just use his bare hands to get them!!
