This is for Teapot Tuesday, we are sending cards to an SCS member who will pass them on to an injured soldier. Unfortunately I don't know the recipients name so I couldn't really personalise this. We are posting the cards to Mountain City TN, so I googled auto repair business in the town and found Bargen Tire and Auto Repair.
I should explain that bringing red trucks to this challenge was suggested. I chose Bargen Tire because I thought it was funny how they spelt tyre. Turns out not to be so funny after all. That is how you spell tyre in the USA. Even when I try to spell in American, my computer does "auto correct" - that is why you see colour and favourite always spelt differently. I wonder how our United Kingdom and Canadian ladies spell these words???
About the cards, I searched everywhere for a pickup truck digi stamp and finally found this on a colouring page. I used copics to paint it red, added acetate to the windscreen, sparkly pens to the grill and stickles to the headlights. IRL it looks very impressive, albiet a bit girly, but looking at the photo you can hardly see it.
This step card is supposed to look like a workshop, where little Polly has arrived early for work. She is sitting outside studying a service manual. Polly (who is too young to drive a car) was a Sassy Cheryl digi stamp in a former life. She hasn't suffered too many injuries in making this card....just the usual...amputated fingers and reattached on top of the book. She has a bit of grime on her face. Her scarf is made from washi tape. The hat is copic colours (I printed two hats and used 3D tape). The book is coloured with distress inks. The paper brick walls is a new range by Kaiser - its a bit pinky-red, so i added distress ink to get the right look.
On a personal note, thank you all so much for the well wishes and concern you showed at my injuries received during last weeks challenge. It made such a nice change from DH's reaction, where he rolls his eyes and shakes his head at my many (many) misshaps. I tell him it is difficult to be careful AND crafty!!
Thank you for looking and have a wonderful week everyone.
