I couldn't resist playing along in today's technique challenge to make metal foil tape art. There is a great tutorial linked to the challenge and I took off from there. I started with a piece of cardboard heavier than cardstock. I embossed in the Tim Holtz Steampunk ef. I then glued Tim Holtz grunge board letters onto that and added some wire mesh and dry wall tape accents. I then layered my cut pieces of metal foil tape. I then used my stylus to define the layered elements. I used my black acrylic paint over this and wiped off most of it. I then remembered the idea of "distressing" the metal with a wire brush, but I used a heavy scrub pad instead. I went back over it with more black acrylic then used some paints intended for sponging a verdigris look. Final step was a buff with a tissue. I used my cropadial to add eyelets in the corners and used hardware chunky twine for my hangar. I added a twill tape flower I'd made a while back. Really fun technique! Step by step photos on my blog!
