MMTPT165: For the big REUNION, of course I am bringing my saddle shoes with the RED gum soles. When I grew up in the 50's, these were a MUST! So were the white wool socks that had to be worn with them. Poodle skirts came and went, but these shoes were still a staple!! That is, until I moved in my Junior year in HS..........everyone wore flats and stockings. Boy! Was I out of sync!!
My 50th reunion was this year. Therefore, I think I am the go-to person for style for the teaparty!!
P.S. Inside it says "GASP!"

I have you beat by a little. We just had our 55th class reunion and not a poodle skirt in sight. Not only did you have to have white socks but they had to be HUGE at the top, remember? Love the shoes and all the memories they bring back.

Fabulous shoes, takes me back a year or two. I had to smile at your comment on my card and getting stuck on Mon Cherie Amour. That song was how my card evolved. It started with the poodle and since it was going to be a French poodle I thought of the Eiffel Tower. The next thing was that stupid song got stuck in my head which eventually led to the French script stamp and the row of hearts. The card was finished Sunday night and I still find myself humming that darn song.

Anne,
I had to wear those my freshman year, but they changed our uniform code my sophmore year and the saddle oxfords went to the back of the closet and were replaced by penny loafers. I wore uniforms all through grade school and high school and never minded them - except for those shoes.
I do really like your awesome card - but those shoes were like 50 lbs. each (or so it seemed) when wearing them all day.

What a great image for that sentiment! I love how you discreetly added some subtle red to the background to show off these oxford beauties. Isn't it a hoot that 50 years has passed? I have a few to go to reach that mark, but who would think that so much water would go under the bridge so soon? TFS
