Hello! This card was made for todayÂ’s Technique Lovers Challenge: Newsworthy. (Participants were to use newspaper on their cards.)
Well, I just happened to have a tabloid that was designed for use in “distressed” projects! It’s a really cool newspaper with photos, distressed coloring, and aged! How cool is that? A vendor gave me a few to try out. (Other than it being REALLY thin, like a newspaper, it is quite a refreshing change from the designer papers out there. (Not that I’m saying anything BAD about designer papers…I mean, come on! I LOVE dp!)
One of my favorite movies of all time is “Emma,” based on the Jane Austin book. I LOVE the lines that were “adapted” for the movie and how the actors would arch their eyebrows when someone had “some NEWS.” News was gossip! LOL Talk about a small town and it’s gossip! WOW! LOL So, when the set “Chicken Scratch” was made, I added the sentiment “Big News” to satisfy my need for a reference to “Emma!” I added that sentiment to this card to help tie in with the background newsprint.
The focal image was stamped onto the Wowza Watercolor circle with AdirondackÂ’s Espresso. I made a boo boo, and only half the top of the tree stamped, so I grabbed my aqua painter and filled in the rest! I painted in a bit of the giraffes, too.
