My mom loved magnolias, and we used to 'forage' in the mountains of home and bring home little snippets of plants to grace our yards. I loved those times with my mom. A few years ago we were able to take her to Yosemite- it is less than two hours from our home. We had a lovely picnic under a grove of magnolias and her smile was so sweet- it came from the inside!
I was fortunate enough to spend the day with Tosh (Stamps4FuninCa) yesterday, and when we were done lunching and shopping, she showed me her magic with punches and flowers. Tosh manipulates the paper to make it soft, once the petals are punched, and uses a soft mat and stylus to make the flowers and leaves take form. I used her techniques today to make the magnolias from a MS flower punch. Once cut, I used a portion of the SU triple flower punch to add the divot in the bloom. I sponged the center and edges using So Saffron and added tiny gold beads to the centers.
The leaves were stamped using Terrific Tulips on Always Artichoke paper and the same color ink. I used an aqua pen to blend the color on the leaves, and when the leaves were still damp, I ran the stylus down the center to form the veins and gave the paper a soft twist to replicate the magnolia greenery.
The DP is from My Mind's Eye, Life Stories Collection.
Thanks for looking.

Oh my - I am totally amazed at this card. I can't believe you made those flowers and leaves. This is beautiful! This is talent with a capital T. I love the little flash from your past too - I can see you traipsing around in the woods with your Mom. My parents did things like that too - although there wasn't a ton of flora in NM and it was illegal to dig up a lot of it. My parents had some land in Chama and we could get stuff from there to put in our yard.
Super card from a super woman! LYS!

Oh my goodness, is this ever gorgeous Pat...I am glad you had time with Tosh and you could share some of your creative magic...
How does she manipulate her paper to get it soft to begin with? The flowers could easily pass for expensive primas. I am glad you have those really special memories of your mom...my Mom smiles from the inside out too!!
