My boys have been wanting to learn all types of things lately, and just a bit ago I just got done showing them how to hand sew. They wanted to make a pillow. After they went to bed, which was later than normal, I decided I was going to stay up and do the inspiration challenge. We were to use inspirations from the Lang Calenders found here: http://www.lang.com/category/CalendarsPlanners. The card I chose was from the Winget's Sketchbook Calendars found here: http://www.lang.com/product/1001253 It is the 2nd column and the 4th one down. (I tried 3 times to get this to add the link, no luck). I also combined The Ways to Use It challenge WT202 here too since I didnt get to complete that the other night. It was suppose to be embossing your dp. Here is my story. When I saw this calender I knew what I wanted to do and already had the paper out. The paper I used for this is in the picture posted. I wanted to show you what the paper looked like before. I cut a thin border from black c/s and trimmed the same with the dp. The dp is from MME Vintage Valentines Postcard I got from HL last year on their clearance rack for cheap. It came in a bundle. Anyways, I sponged the dp with teal, white, and brushed corduroy distress ink. I stamped the sentiments from studio g stamps. After all was sponged and stamped on, I used clear embossing powder with heat tool to set. Went back over the embossed look with the inks to complete the look. I mounted it on the black c/s. I punched out 2 circle postage stamps from the dp with the CM circle punches also. I stamped the big butterfly and the yellow butterfly with versamark onto black c/s. Heat embossed using black powder. Used the aquawriter that has my bleach in and used it on those 2 butterflies. Let set for a few seconds to get the bleached look. Went back and colored the butterflies using the Bic Markers It pens. The yellow butterfly has no added color by a pen, its just bleached out. The blue butterfly gave me some trouble. Who ever said cutting the antennas was easy...NOT! I stamped it with black ink onto white c/s. Colored it with a marker and embossed it using clear powder. I used the cm circle punches for the 2 postage stamps, traced with red on one, and sponged the little one with black ink. All the butterflies on there with the Tomo Glue. I really like coming close to the inspiration as much as possible. This was really fun and great to have to challenges work together to make one card. Have a great morning.
