Thanks to you, Emily for inviting me outside my comfort zone with these colors. My design came to me quite easily, but the application of colors and their proportion is another story. I promise I used River Rock with my black and white!
I love chairs...their structure has always pulled at me, so needless to say I have many chairs in my house to sit upon, recline in and to gaze upon. In the room where my fanny is presently resting, there are 8 different types of chairs...some match, most don't! Just like us individuals ...UNIQUE. Using chairs in my design made it easy to tell my son just how we all feel about him!
The chair border is from A Stamp in the Hand. I inked it in black Versacolor and ep'ed in clear. I cut each rung and even *broke* one of the rails...just like some of the chairs here.. The WE is Technique Tuesday's Clamaity Jane and the U is Purple Onion's Circus font. They are also inked as above. The miss is from the SU all about U set. I stamped on river rock. My large panel is CB'ed with the new diamond pattern...and the small panel is the paisley folder. I wanted to create wallpaper and the image your wall looks different from ours...you are away from us! I popped all the chairs on foam squares. The background under the we miss you is the fabulous MM noteworthy spiral paper I inserted the strip of black to add to the texture.
Thanks so much for your comments and before you sit the next time take a good look at your chair! UNIQUE just like U!!!

What a wonderful card. I love country chairs, they always remind me of my Grandma's kitchen and the feeling of love there. I think this is the perfect way for you to express your love for your son in this way as he probably knows how much you love them. Beautifully done.

Susan, what a beautiful card and accompanying story! How funny are your thoughts on chairs: I use chairs of all sorts in my home: I have them everywhere. My son in law once told someone all we own are chairs. I just love chairs, just like you. More and more, I'm learning we are kindred souls.
