This week we are sending shades of purple cheer to purple loving Ashlie. Ashlie was viscously attacked by a dog and is undergoing extensive surgeries and treatments to repair the damage. It sounds painful and difficult.
Today I discovered that, for me at least, purple is not really a happy color. It's a gorgeous color, it's a serene color, it's a regal color; but it's not a happy color. At least it didn't look happy on the first two cards I tried. I wanted a happy card for Ashlie so I invited Gladys to the party to liven things up. Honestly, I said "party"; she heard "Mardi Gras". Seriously, any excuse to pull out those purple feathers and green beads.
For my card, I die cut Gladys and colored the various parts with COPICS. Added some flowers from a Sizzix die set. Punched the small circles for beads and glued them to a very thin strip of paper I could wrap around her neck. Her base was cut two more times in black so she would stand out a bit from the bg, Yeah, she asked for bubbles too. So I stenciled those in the same colors as her outfit. Inked direct to paper for the framing.
Well, I think Gladys brought the happy and I hope she makes Ashlie smile. I hope she makes you smile too. TFL
