This week the Tea Party is headed to Walt with paper hugs and notes of caring. Walt is the widower of our own sweet Cheryl Scrivens (aka CherylQuilts) and we are reminding him that he is still thought of and cherished here at SCS. Our hostess, Lisa (aka ShoeGirl) asked us what brings us Peace and to use that in our cards. For me, that is always nature -- sometimes trees, sometimes water, and today a night sky filled with stars.
For this card, I stenciled the bg with all the colors listed above with darkest at the edges descending into the center. I didn't want the bright white left behind after stenciling so I went over everything again with the same inks and colors and finally overall with the Chipped Sapphire. Sprinkled metallic silver paint to, hopefully, look like distant stars and pasted everything down and together. When I die cut the "joy", I left it in the paper and applied direct ink to paper with Chipped Sapphire. That left a slight edge of white around the word which I left because it helps it stand out a bit from the bg. I'm sure I will never be able to do that again on purpose.
It is so hard to lose your life partner and I think the holidays are especially tough. I hope he finds himself surrounded by love and camaraderie and friendship and that our cards and notes will let him know he is held in the hearts and prayers of many. I hope you all find your bit of peace today too. TFL and blessings to you all.

Cool techniques and look on this, Debbie. It is peaceful and sweet and perfect for this challenge. You are so right on the hardship of this kind of loss (or any loss). Wishing you peace as well. Hugz

Beautifully stenciled background and the white star and dots look so striking against the blues. The silver framing adds a nice touch of elegance. Lovely card!

I totally agree on the night sky filled with stars. There's too much light pollution here, I love it when we're far enough away from cities to really see the stars. Fantastic stencilling. And thanks for describing how you got the edging on the joy. I mean, I do that often with large shapes, sponging while still in the die, but I don't think I've ever thought of doing it with words, and they sometimes really do need that added definition.

Debbie, what a happy accident with the white edging around your die cut Joy! What a spectacular card you've created .... I really love that gorgeous silver star and the Chipped Sapphire ink!
