I always enjoy the fifth Monday of the month when Karen is our host. Today, she is asking us to weave paper, then stamp and color on top. I'm not much of a colorer and I didn't color the whole thing, because I stamped on some dp that I wanted to show.
I just love bug/insect images. Do I love bugs in general?? Not the real kind, most of the time, especially stink bugs and Japanese beetles. Everyone keeps coming out with new butterfly stamps; to me, they all look the same. But I love this big, ol' beetle type guy.
I wove my strips of dp, using one pattern going across and a different one going down. I used some Distress inks to make it a bit more grungy, stamped and clear embossed Mr. Beetle, then colored with some Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor pencils. I dry embossed the base, brushed some Distress ink on that for more grunge, added some Distress ep at the bottom, then used a 'brayer off' printer paper background for the leaves on the sides. The media on the printer paper is mostly metallic acrylic paint.
The reason for the lace at the top is because this is also for yesterday's FS, honoring Kathy (carolinakathy). The lace is tatted, I think, almost 3 yards for 50 cents at Goodwill. I love to CASE artists like Kathy; she tries different things, has a lot of variety. This is what I chose: WT841 Earth Day by Carolinakathy at Splitcoaststampers.
I think it's self explanatory what I kept and what I changed. I just love her card!!!!!

VERY cool card, Jean. I love the muted/soft woven paper and that giant bug. Super pretty colors and look. Great card/case/creation! Hugz
