Today's Watercolor Wednesday Challenge was right up my alley. Thanks for giving us a fun and easy challenge for your first WCW challenge, Stacy. And I always enjoy watching Ellen's videos because her accent sounds so natural to me. I went looking for a good reference photo for my painting. I wanted a lighthouse near me, and I found Castle Hill Lighthouse in Newport, RI.
I sketched it out in pencil first, then went back over the lines in fine Sharpie. This was so quick and easy to add the watercolor washes to the inky sketch. Totally my style and very fun. I'm not sure I can part with this card. Good thing I made two. You can see both on my blog today: The Stamping Actuary
I painted one on Agave watercolor paper and one of Bamboo mixed media paper. I took a side by side picture to show the difference.
This card will also go to this week's Tea Party recipient. A coworker asked if I could make a card for her to send. That's why I specifically wanted to find a Rhode Island lighthouse, to remind him that he has a lot of support over here in Southern New England.
This also fits Pat's Dare to Get Dirty Challenge!

One really gets the feeling of a pen and ink sketch with watercolor washes looking at your card. Beautifully done. Lots of thought went into your card.

Fabulous card for Tom. I have always loved that Martin Luther quote so I am glad to see it on your wonderful lighthouse card! You drew this yourself! It looks amazing! Well done you!
