I have an aunt, not much older than me, because my uncle married her when he was in his 40's. My uncle is close to 90, she's in her early 70's; she takes such good care of him, she is so loving to all of us, great cook, fun and adventurous. She is a quilter and this will be her birthday card in November.
I didn't choose a particular item on the site. I love to look at fabric, even though I'm all thumbs when it comes to stuff like that. One of my fondest memories is going to the fabric store with my Mom to pick out fabric for a dress. She made most of my dresses, especially in middle and high school. There was an old store called Gambles, kind of a mercantile type place and they had great fabric. She tried to teach me, to not much avail.
I thought the cross stitch hoop was so cute, even though I haven't cross stitched in a long time. Made the heart with twine, sponged the hoop with some darker brown, colored the metal screw with silver gel pen, and inked up the ef with several colors of Distress ink, spritzed it and ran it through the machine. It was a little pale so I added some ink.
My aunt probably knows about this site. It's only because of her that I know what a fat quarter is. I would have thought it meant a quarter of a pie.

A perfect card for the quilter in your life, Jean. Love the hoop with cross-stitched heart in the center. My mom taught me to sew when I was 9, then I made my own clothing for many years, even for my husband and sons.

This is fabulous, Jean! I love the quilted bg & stitched heart. My aunt & my mom sewed all the time & by the time I got to high school, I made most of my own clothes. Your aunt sounds wonderful & she will love this card.
