yep, I am definitely rusty! Good thing this wasn't for a VSN. It was more than an hour card. I've spent the past two months riding my bike every spare moment. It's easy to social distance on a bicycle. And some of the time, I thought about stamps, paper, inks, and ideas. But those ideas flittered in and out of the gray matter. It took the WT and F4A to bring them back. Blues...and sapphires. I just celebrated another trip around the sun this week!
The main element of my card was cut from an aluminum can. I've been saving the can for quite awhile as I loved the art of it. I carefully fussy cut it free. Next was creating the background
grass and sky and a harvest moon. I used many blue hued inks. The moon (Carabelle Studio) was such fun to do! I added a corrugated 'pier' post bottom. This was from a very thick scrap of cardboard. I peeled several layers off and embossed with a teal and bronze mixed media ep. The village panel had to be stapled on my base. I cut away several of the more interesting images. Added a tag Thanks for dimension along the front. Slid in a Victorian window at the top left. It was embossed in Shell White and colored with 'Stormy Sky' distress. I placed the name of the business from the can in the window dentil. Fort George. For the grassy bank, I used an old Stampin' Up! clump of grass image randomly around the green bottom. All that was left was to staple the corners with various colored staples. Oh, and placed the 'Only in the PACIFIC Northwest, Astoria, Oregon' amongst the cottages.
I am editing to add, the camera did not catch the gorgeous pearlescent blue of the can panel. And my background panel is Enchanted Evening, a rich blue. But I know your artistic eyes will imagine it!
This card is going to the brewer of 'City of Dreams' at Fort George. I hope they like it, I know I enjoy their liquid art! Credit my son, Andy...who is always in search of wonder.

Wowsers! This is so cool, Susan. And that is one great beer can you used. Love how you did the sky and sun and grass. Hate when the camera does not catch all of the beauty! I am in awe of this!

Oh my goodness, that was some fancy can! I've brought a couple home from work intending to use, but only for the colour, not for amazing artwork like this. Great background you created for it too, the grass and the moon are magnificent.
Thanks for letting me know the card arrived! I was thinking of you this morning as I cycled to work and the rare sun-cast shadow of my helmet made me think of your old avatar.

Happy belated birthday wishes, sweet friend. Always love seeing you in the gallery, but I know how much that outdoor, alone time can feed the soul and can fill the mind with those beautiful glimpses of nature. This reminds me of one of my favorite Leo Lioni chldren's book about the little mouse who did not spend his summer gathering nuts and food for the winter like the other mice. Instead he filled his mind by taking in all the beauty of the world around him in his imagination, and his contribution to his mouse family was sharing those beautiful thoughts with them through the bleakness of winter. Thanks for sharing your imagination of some of the things you took in on your adventure with nature.

I would have saved that creative can as well! How awesome that you could turn it into such an artistic card! The brewer will love receiving this. Who wouldn't!

I may have saved that can as well (after all it would be empty) but I never would have imagined using it like you have! What an imaginative scene you have created expanding the edges of the tin landscape so seemlessly!

Terrific scene for your card cut from the can and that BG is so perfect for it too. My son has been riding his bike so much this summer too just to get out. He has been doing about 20 miles on Sunday mornings to go visit his new girl friend. That boy....LOL!
