I'm trying to do a better job at using my NBUS stamps and dies. Today's target - a word balloon set from Mama Elephant. After playing around awhile, I'm not convinced this one isn't destined for the "Sell" bin, but I was determined to get at least 1 or 2 cards out of it first.
I wasn't really loving it when I tried to add the strings, so I abandoned them completely and just embraced the fun shape of the balloon words to make a fun birthday card.
I stamped, colored and die cut the HOORAY, cutting and layering 2 extra "blanks" to add dimension. (this is my personal favorite way to add dimension - it keeps things even and is a good way to use up those little cut off scraps of cardstock that we tend to hoard.) I used a clear glitter pen on the letters to add some fun sparkle.
I stamped the (SSS- CZ Design) sentiment with white Hero Arts pigment ink and embossed with Brutus Monroe Alabaster powder. I then die cut using an MFT die.
I had this little hippo already colored up and on my stamp table. Since I am targeting this for a child, I figured a cute critter was a must. I stamped and colored a party hat for him to wear. I used a gel pen to add on some white stripes.
To assemble, I mounted a die cut stitched square (MFT) from my stash onto a scrap of thin card stock before adhering to my card base. I first attached the sentiment strip, leaving the end unglued so that I could later tuck the hippo's foot under there. I then added the balloon HOORAY, followed my my hippo and his party hat.
To finish off the card, I added some fun clear sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.
Inside Sentiment: Wishing You the HAPPIEST BIRTHDAY EVER
TFL!
