Yay it's Tickle a Teapotter time of the month and our special guest hostess Miss Boo aka Jen, has given us a Red, White and Blue non-patriotic challenge. There are bonus cookies for using atypical shades of blue.
I thought it was time to give "Grace" an outing, it's been almost 3 years since I used this gorgeous stamp by Gabrielle Pollacco. If you google her name you will see the most amazing mixed media work.
I stamped the image onto a big piece linen finish cardstock. As this is a ballerina stamp, I wiped the ink off the bottom of her tutu before stamping. Now for the colouring, I started with 3 blue Gelato's, one blue Distress crayon, 2 blue acrylic paints, then drum roll......16 blue pencils!
The crayons were blended in a sweeping motion using a baby wipe, the paint was applied with a paint brush, then using the same crayon stained baby wipe, gently wipe some paint away.
The light blue background was done by gently wiping the same baby wipe over the white card. Grace's body is coloured with coloured pencils, they colour really easily over the pale blue background so I didn't have to mask her body first.
The pencils were added once the gown was super dry. I added red Stickles over the gown but they didn't look right so I quickly wiped them off. There are teeny tiny glimpses of red Stickles on the dress. As this is a red, white and blue challenge I put red Stickles in her hair and I bet she is wearing red knickers and red nail polish!
I added stenciling using modelling paste, when dry I added some Wink of Stella and clear Stickles.
Hint: It is easier to start with cardstock that is about 2" bigger all around, so you can swish the skirt on without being restricted by card edges. Trim the card after you finish applying all the products.
I am right handed so I have the card facing me when doing the left side of her gown, rotate the card 180deg to do the right hand side. That way you get a good swishing motion and both sides will look even. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you for looking. I hope you are happy, safe and able to get inky.

I think that Grace must be one of your favourite stamps. She is gorgeous and every card you make with her is just so special. Love reading all about the creative steps involved - have learnt so much from all your work. Another stunning Gracie card. Nearly forgot - love the sparkly red roses in her hair.

Your timing is perfect for reintroducing us to Grace...I know all the Teapotters are drooling, fingers crossed hoping that they will be chosen to receive this beautiful creation. WOW....I love just the bare hint of red in her hair and the amazing texture of the leaves cascading down the edges. Ya did good Miss Susie
Wow! Susie, how can it be 3 years already? Seems like just yesterday I was swooning over these girls in your gallery. I love her in blue and how fun that you added textured leaves along the sides! Beautiful!

Wow, Susie! What a stunner. I always love the way you do her dresses. 16 shades of blue pencil, no wonder there's so much depth and shading in it. Love the red knickers and hair-piece, and I'm betting the bits of Stickles still left in her dress look fantastic.

What a lovely card! Definitely full of Grace, so unlike me! LOL A clumsy, blue jean, t-shirt wearing, bull-in-a-China-Shop Gracie Girl! Love her beautiful, yet simple elegance!

I always love what you do with Grace and this is another beauty. If I were to throw that many mediums at something I would end up with a mess on the desk and probably on me too. A wonderful red, white and blue challenge
