I made this card for this week's Featured Stamper who is Lori (aka ArtzadoniStudio). I took one look at this card of Lori's and I knew I had to make some red blooms today: DTGD18ravengirl Popping Off A Poppy by ArtzadoniStudio at Splitcoaststampers. It is obvious Lori is very talented at mixed media which is a huge challenge for me so I decided to do a loose watercolor technique and consider it my version of mixed media. I heat embossed the flowers and leaves and did a lot of masking in between all the heat embossing. I let this piece cool a bit, then I sprinkled the red and green color burst powders very carefully into the flower petals and the leaves. Using a mini mister filled with water, I sprayed this piece from high up to lessen the force of the water hitting the paper in the hopes the color with stay within the lines. Well, the color bled out, but I do like the end result so I am ok with it. I set the piece aside to dry for awhile, then assembled my card. I showed this card to my husband to see what he thought of it and he liked my "garden" card so I am also entering this card in the letter G alphabet challenge for Garden. Lori, you have a beautiful gallery and I was truly inspired by your creativity. Thanks for the great inspiration today too! ~Karen.

Karen, your creation is stellar! You took a simple image and made it come alive with your artistic prowess! Brilliant instinct to spray lightly. I am totally inspired by your technique and will put it on my to-try list. Thank you so much for making my day so special by adding your beauty to it.

Your card is so beautiful Karen! I love the way you used a "loose watercolor" technique. Your artwork is inspiring too! I'm on vacation or I'd have to sit right down and CASE your card!
