My card today for the first Color Challenge is an encouragement card for a co-worker who had a hip replacement 10 days ago. She kidded before the surgery she was going to trick out a walker! Well, I did that for her with this card.
Thanks Barbara for the vibrant colors today in the CC. I tricked them a bit as well...using Dylusions 'Lemon Zest' spray on the so saffron SU paper. And not being able to leave well enough alone, I rubbed Gellatos across the Bermuda Bay card base to mute that bold color just a bit. The Basic Grey 'Dahlia' stand in for the Blackberry Bliss purple was left along! I used a cool Memory Box square Mod die across it. And as I was designing the card, I like how it focused the eye on the colors.
My walker woman was paper pieced from the house dress to the pinwheel. I tied a bit of vintage seam binding around her head. I rather like how it frumped her up just right. And used Glossy Accents on her spectacles. Added the AMuse sentiment: The journey is the reward. And Slower minds keep right on the front of the walker.
I also turned the embossing folder to change direction of the panel on the Bermuda Bay and So Saffron pieces. It adds just the slightest hint of something interesting going on.
My friend is always taking spins in her community's roads...no ups and downs on sidewalks yet, but she is amazed at her progress and I am too. I think she'll have a belly laugh when she walks out for her mail and spies this card.
Thanks so much for supporting me with your comments...they made my day~0! Can't wait to visit the galleries and see all the creative cards of our community. We have a pretty special bunch of artists here!

To me, there is nothing more fun than a personalized creation. Giving or receiving them makes for deeper connection opportunities. You are helping your friend heal even faster with the laughter and the love. And THIS is another incredibly fun piece of art that has YOU written all over it....um not the old part... you're way cuter!
This is hilarious and totally a keeper! She is going to love this. My friend has to have hip surgery this week, too! I love all of the ways you tricked out your card in her honor.

Oh my goodness it would be worth having a hip replacement just to receive this card. Susan you are a treasure, producing fun fabulous creations for all of us to laugh at. I love your write up and the idea of frumping her up a bit with a seam binding head scarf. LOL I could look at this all day. Oh tell your friend if she comes to Australia, keep left, otherwise she will need her other hip done.
