Happy New Year! It's my week to be hostess in the Color Challenge, and I've picked my favorite, Bermuda Bay, along with Blackberry Bliss and So Saffron for this week's colors. The dessert option is ribbon.
I love this new stamp set, and had a lot of fun masking the girl. When she was completely covered, I used a blending brush and Distress Oxide ink to create the glowing yellow background. Then I removed the masks and set about coloring her. For the first time, ever, I tried coloring with SU inks. And I learned a lot! Inks don't really blend like watercolors do, and once they're dry, they're set. Next time I will try the wet-on-wet technique and water down the stronger colors! Still, I'm happy with the way the coloring turned out.
I decided to create my own background, and inked up the embossing folder with Bermuda Bay ink. Well! The result is certainly NOT what I expected! I have no idea why the color didn't transfer to the whole background, but I really like it! I cut out both layers with stitched rectangle dies, added the ribbon, and popped up the focal image on some foam tape, brushed the Bermuda Bay areas with glitter brush, added the sequins and called it good!
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week! And again, I wish everyone the happiest of New Years in 2019!

Well, I think you did a fabulous job with the markers Barbara, they look so vibrant against the soft yellow! While not what you expected, those BB snowflakes make a great background for your PF image. Love this!

This is wonderful Barbara! I love the coloring with the inks - you did a great job even if they didn't behave as expected. And the stamp is one of my new favorites - I was planning on using this stamp for my card but changed at the last minute. Look for it in upcoming weeks!
