Polly is this week's MIX hostess and her challenge is At Face Value. While she suggested people or animals with faces, my thoughts went straigh away to clocks - although I did add an animal with a face too .
The clock stencil arrived just too late to use for Janelle's challenge last week and I never had time to make another card for her challenge with it. I used some Christmas gift papers, lining the card base with one sheet, and adhering another to a square of card. After stencilling it with black for the clock face, I cut the circle spinner element (there's an SCS tutorial for circle spinners HERE), and then with gesso I stencilled some brick into each corner of the outer frame.
I swiped some card with tattered rose DOX and when dry, stamped my pig on it. I stamped her wings again on white card, covered with Versamark, embossed with Iridescent Ice and pieced them on. She has Nuvo glitter drops to pretty up all her toes, and I just used a little water on a brush to lighten the inside of her ear.
I used thin chipboard and a 3/4" circle punch to make the spinner element. Carla sent me some lovely laser cuts in with her Christmas card, I embossed one with silver and stuck it in the centre of the card.
Best of all, even though it's such an oddball card I know exactly who I am sending it to and have stuck a reminder in my calendar to post it in a "timely" fashion.
Thanks for such a fun and inspiring challenge, Polly.
