Another of my favorite styles of cards to make is a scene with masking, and sponging. Penny black has so many stamps that work well for this and the Birches stamp is my most recent addition to my collection.
Stamped the trees and masked, masked off the bottom section of card for snow and also masked for a moon. Sponged my sky colors, stamped more trees along the horizon, spritzed with water/blotted, splattered with black, blue and white acrylic paint, removed masks, stamped sentiment. Added just a bit of sponging to the moon so it wouldn't look so white and then a bit of sponging for some shadow at the base of the birches. LOVE making this type of card and I thank Heather Telford for all her examples and tutorials explaining her process!

Wow, Maura! This is YOU! I love ALL your work, but this is one of the areas you really shine -- sponging and masking to make some of the most gorgeous cards! Stunning cards, sweet friend! What a joy to see them! Hugs and love! xoxo

I am loving this challenge so much. Maura I knew this was yours!!! No one creates these masked, snowy scenes like you. I love how you use various colours to create drama - the glow in the sky is brilliant and it makes the moon look even more magical. Love this to bits my friend.

Oh yes, this is so you Maura! Just a lovely scene and such attention to detail with beautiful sponging, shading and making sure the moon has just the right amount of color. So gorgeous!

I always love to see how you create scenes and the amazing coloring you add to them. This one is so eye catching with the colors on the BG. I love your style and always look forward to seeing what you add to the galleries.
