It is so lovely to be back at my desk and joining in Miss Lisa's fun "recycle" Teaparty for our very own Carol aka Bobbie's Girl.
During our travels we visited lots of little charity shops, packed full of all sorts of things from tractors to false teeth. I came across a few copies of 1955 and 1956 Australian Home Journal magazines and instantly thought how great the covers would look in picture frames. In reality, these magazines will never see a frame or a wall, but I do love them and I consider it my civic duty to contribute to the economy of small outback towns!
As soon as I read all the things that Carol loves, I immediately knew what my recycled element would be. I was going to make a tall card, but that didn't show off enough of the magazine page background, so I chopped her legs off, stuck her on the card, then stuck her legs up under her skirt. Her BMI is a bit out of whack, but 1950's women were generally shorter...weren't they?
I hope all of our cards bring some cheer to Carol. It is great to be back in Splitcoaststamperville. I missed you all so much. Thank you for looking.

Wheeee! Oh, sweet Sis, it's a JOY to see you and to see the beautiful and fashionable vintage card you've made! I'm sure you and DH had a wonderful time of relaxation and exploration throughout the outback, and it's wonderful to have you back -- relaxed and rested and ready to have fun again with us. I'm with Sabrina that this reminds me of my old Vogue patterns that I used to use and also a vintage sewing guide by the Singer sewing machine company. I love your stylish gal who is shorter, and I'm sure the gals back then were shorter. Hehe! Beautifully done and a wonderful card for dear Carol! Hugs and love, precious sis! Missed you terribly and am so happy you are back to Splitcoastville!! Love you so much...with lots of hugs! xoxo

Sure glad you are sharing your neat finds from your vacation. Love how you took the antique magazines and made a perfect card for Carol. Your added creation of the Julie Nutting image is spectacular with all the details, lace, pearl necklace, gloves compliments the other gals. Gosh, you have to wonder how those gals did any breathing in those tiny waisted dresses. Glad you're back! TFS

I love that you used the vintage magazine! My mother used to get Ladies Home Journal in the 1950's. They looked like that! Thank you for playing and welcome back!

LOL! Miss Susie I love how you recreated your beautiful lady cutting her legs off. I am sure many ladies from the 1950s were a bit shorter or at least the ones I know that I stand next to since I am tall. Totally love the vintage feel to this beautiful card for Carol and she is going to really love this too. So thrilled to see you upload to the challenge again. Miss seeing your amazing cards. Welcome back friend!

OMGosh, reminds of the Ladies' Home Journal magazines that my 93-year old Mom used to have a subscription to and the patterns that she and her sister's used to have for sewing. This is a lovely card made of fun re-cycled elements! Brings back my little girl days!
