This is for my friend and cardmaking buddy who lost her father at the end of June and now 18 days later lost her mother in an automobile accident. So very sad!
I am able to enter this card into seven challenges... some current and some old!
#2. Ways To Use It Challenge WT681 - 3/29/18. "I've Got Butterflies". . .feature butterflies on your card.
#3. Free 4 All Challenge F4A435 - 6/22/18. "Just Over the Holler." My neighboring state is Oregon. Oregon's state insect is the Swallowtail butterfly. In addition, they have instituted several conservation programs to restore the habitat for the Monarch Butterfly in southern Oregon, the Silverspot butterfly along coastal regions, and the Fender's Blue Butterfly, which was thought to be extinct from the 1940 until the late 1980s, in the Willamette Valley. My card depicts a butterfly in honor of their butterfly conservation programs.
#4. Featured Stamper Challenge FS596 - 7/8/18. "Are we all redistamp?" aka Mary. I used Mary's card for layut inspiration with some modifications: WT481-HOPE by redi2stamp at Splitcoaststampers.
#5. Try A New Technique Challenge TLC645 - 7/3/17. "EOINA: Shaving Cream". . .try a shaving cream technique on your card. I did a Shaving Cream Background.
#6. Alphabet Challenge, Round 9 DD9ABC3C - 3/7/18. For color letter C: Celadon Green. Double challenge: add a curve in your card. My curve is in the oval sentiment layers and the butterfly wings.
#7. USEIT2018 Challenge - ongoing. Use items gathering dust in your materials or tools stash. I have used Stampin' Up's two-year retired stamps: Painted Petals and Butterflies Thinlit dies.

Such beautiful layers of colors and splatter, this is a gorgeous card, Charlene! Your research of Oregon butterfly conservation is spot on, I was just reading about the Silverspot in the newspaper recently. So your lovely butterfly landing on the flowers and the use of green as your primary background color represents Oregon to me! Love it!

How sad for your friend. The same thing happened to a friend of mine in the same order a number of years ago. It's so difficult. What a beautiful card. I'm sure she will love it!

I'm not sure how I missed this beautiful card, Carlene. The butterfly is a lovely symbol of hope against that pretty bg and the lace and ribbon are perfect finishes. I'm so sorry for your friend's loss. I'm sure she appreciates your love and support.

Carlene, first of all, this is a gorgeous card, and I love the colors and the beautiful technique! Wow, you've nailed that one! I hopped over to your blog and read more about how you created it and also your words about the losses your dear friend has suffered. I loved reading the words you've printed for the inside of the card. You will never know just how much that will mean to her. Having lost my parents (not quite as dramatically or in the same timeframe), what cards say means a lot. This is a real keeper, and she is going to re-read these words and look at your card for weeks and months ahead as she deals with the grief. You are a dear friend! Hugs and love! xoxo

Oh my Carlene! So sorry to hear of your friend's loss- what a tragedy for sure! I agree with the others- this is so soft and beautiful with the rich colors. I love the shaving cream background as well as the added butterfly and ribbon/twine embellishment. I am sure that your friend will cherish this card and keep it as a memento. Hugs and tfs!
