I finished this earlier today except for the greeting. I was going to make it a birthday then I had a call from my aunt that my uncle had passed away. My aunt & uncle are twins so I'm sending this to her. So I guess my card is more a celebration of his life than a sympathy card. He hadn't been sick, in fact he played a LOT of golf & did a LOT of bowling, but life is like that, I guess.
Anyway, I didn't have as much washi tape as I thought but I found a couple w/ black patterns, some pink & pale green & some black glitter so that's what I used. It was embossed w/ Swiss dots then framed w/ a pale mint green & the greeting added.
The inside has an Abraham Lincoln quote w/ a rose bush image & says "We can complain that the rose bush has thorns or rejoice that the thorn bush has roses." My aunt will get that..we can cry that he's gone or rejoice that he lived.
Thanks so much for looking. It's on my blog now w/ closeups & the inside: The Write Stuff

Washi never looked so good! Great design Julie. Your uncle sounds like he lived life to the fullest....I like that you decided to make this a celebration of his life...your aunt will appreciate it I'm sure.

I, too, now prefer to make "celebration of life " cards rather than the somber often depressing cards of years gone by. Your framed piece is just striking and I love the look of that suspended sentiment.

Julie, what a lovely card you've created for your aunt! Love the sentiment you used inside and the little roses on the washi tape compliment it. I would not have known it was washi tape if I hadn't read it - so beautifully done

So sorry for your loss Julie. But you seem to have a great outlook to celebrate that he lived! Of course you still grieve, but it is wonderful to celebrate his life! Your washi tape with the little roses on it will really tie the sentiment in well!

WOW! I love the inside sentiment and the way you turned your card around like that. I love the shaker style of it - it's just wonderful! Thanks for playing along with my challenge!
