My son's birthday is coming and I like to make interactive cards for him. An hourglass shaker that spins fits that criteria. It was just a bit fussy to make, but he's worth it!
I stamped the hourglass on two pieces of paper and a piece of acrylic and fussy cut. I colored the hourglass stand to mimic bronze and wood. I cut the opening for the glass portion with an exacto knife then adhered the stamped acrylic behind it. I used very, very thin pieces of dimensional tape to create a shaker chamber, added sand and adhered the back piece. Die cut the bg panel, sponged on ink, stamped faint script and then the sentiment. I punched a hole in the bg piece, added an eyelet and used heavy duty tape to adhere a small brad to the back of the hourglass. When the hourglass turns, the sand spills down. Hope my son likes it! Beautiful Carla!! I love the die cut in the corner and your hourglass is perfect! Wonderful sentiment as well.

Carla, I love that hourglass. My parents had one when I was a teenager and when I got on the phone I had to get off before it ran out of sand (I could flip it once) - about 6 minutes. My kids would have rebelled if I did something like that and they don't believe my story. Very cool card.

Such a wonderfully clever idea...intricate work, but as you say, for your son, it's worth it! Love those open-die-cut corner patterns, and this is perfect on your card. Love the vintage flavor!
