I made this card for the letter L Alphabet Challenge. The L in my card is for the leaves. This is a really fun technique that I have become a bit addicted to lately. The leaf and acorn stamps are two-step stamps. You have a solid base layer and an outline/detail layer. Using my MISTI, I started out using the solid base layer of each leaf, inked it in white craft ink, stamped the leaf, heat set it, inked it in white again and heat set it again. Leaving the solid stamp in place on the MISTI, I cleaned it off and dried it. Then I took finger dauber sponges and inked them up using distress inks and sponged the ink onto this stamp. I stamped the image, then inked it up again with distress inks and sponge daubers and stamped it again. When all the leaves were done, then I heat embossed each leaf using the detail stamp and gold embossing powder. I heat embossed the sentiment, then promptly dropped a distress ink pad onto my finished card (grrrr). So, I inked up the acorn using scrap paper. I used Delicata Copper ink on the bottom section of the acorn so it is really shimmery looking. I fussy cut the acorn out and it just barely hides the ink blob. This piece of kraft card stock was in my stash. I had already die cut a piece out of it and used it on another card so this is the negative piece that was left behind. I thought this was interesting so I placed some gold mirror card stock behind the die cut area to highlight it. Thanks for looking today. ~Karen.
