Karen is our hostess in the Color Challenge this week, and she has given us a beautiful pastel combo. These colors make me long for spring, even though we're just barely into autumn here in the US. Her colors are Powder Pink, Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky and So Saffron. The dessert option is scallops. I've decided to be good on my diet this week, so I'm skipping dessert (which never happens!).
I saw a card similar to this one on Facebook, and just had to try it. I needed to substitute Distress Oxide inks, and came as close as I could to the week's colors. I used Cracked Pistachio, Fossilized Amber, Worn Lipstick, Broken China.
I decided what size I wanted the card, and roughly drew out the sizes of the panels. I temporarily adhered the three layers of watercolor paper, and sponged the ink all over. I splattered some water droplets on the panel, let it sit for a moment, then blotted with a sheet of clean paper towel. Then I randomly stamped with a variety of images with Smoky Slate ink.
I assembled the layers, die cut the leaves, stamped the flowers and punched them out, and shaped them with my stylus. Added some white Nuvo drops to the centers of the flowers, added the bird, and voilà !
Thanks for stopping by, and please play along with us this week!
