Hi, everyone! Today I am sharing a card for a very special cause. April is Autism Awareness month.
The stats on autism is 1 in 68 children are diagnosed on the Autistic spectrum which means if your family is not affected, I bet you know someone who is!
This cause is near and dear to my heart because our son was diagnosed on the spectrum. We had many challenging years with more tears than I can count but also joys unimaginable! We are very fortunate that our son's most severe symptoms lessened as he grew older. He is in his freshman year at college and made the Dean's List his first semester!
I know our son's story isn't a typical one, though. After creating this card, I did some research for my blog post and was totally misty eyed thinking of the journey many families are on and remembering our early years. I really hope you will hop on over to My Blog for more info and the link to The Project Bin so you can meet Spencer, for whom this stamp set is named!!!
I created a very light watercolor wash then colored and die cut the heart puzzle and popped it up. I stamped one more piece of the puzzle because LOVE completes the puzzle!
I love that this set can be used to create a special gift for someone affected by ASD but by simply coloring the puzzle pieces a different color this set can be used for a variety of occasions!
Thanks so much for looking today, this card and cause is one of that is dear to my heart!

I have found it very moving reading what people have been sharing about autism. What a lovely card, Angie, bright and happy; the primary colours are fab. And it reminded me of my ASD/ADHD nephew, how when he was small he was better at perceiving the space around things than the shape of an actual object. So with those foam number puzzles, he would recognise the space where a number should before picking out the right piece to fit in it.
