This is for Lydia's fun mixed media challenge "Say what you want"...loose handwriting that is illegible - so I will tell you what this says.
Dear Melanie, we think your last make-over was a bit extreme, in fact we hardly recognise you. We loved you just the way you were. Big squishy hugs from you BFF's Meg and Goldie.
ROTFL...I didn't really say that, I wrote "You are my sunshine" song. This was heaps of fun to make, with the usual smack & squirt technique. Smack distress ink onto aluminium foil, squirt on a lot of water and because I was too lazy to mask Melanie, Meg and Goldie, I added a bit more water than usual so I could control the sponging around them. I started with the blue first.....unfortunately I was so distracted by the Olympics on the TV, that I started colouring from the bottom....blue grass was not the look I was going for.
I did the sky next...the ink was already ready to use LOL. Once the grass had completely dried, I used green distress inks, green Distress Crayons and Prismacolour pencils. The few flicks of white were made with a Sharpie paint pen. Elizabeth did a fabulous tutorial last month "Outdoor backgrounds" Outdoor Backgrounds Tutorials at Splitcoaststampers whilst my grass is not exactly the same, I used Elizabeths method over the top of the distress ink. Trees were stamped, doodled the border and added a fence.
Doing the writing was the last thing I did. With very little pressure I wrote on the exposed sky with a Staedtler HB pencil. I figured I could rub it out and start again if it didn't look right. I love this technique!!
Thanks for looking ladies and have a happy weekend.

I could totally see you doing this challenge and you did it to perfection! I love the story you made up that you "wrote" what a hoot that would have been to put on the card. You have some of the best stories to go with your fun cards. Thanks for the stunning card you shared and the smile.

Ah, the hilarity never ceases in your gallery - you are a natural born story teller and fantasy specialist, Susie!! The scene you have created is beyond mesmerizing, and I really am amazed at how you did the handwritten background and added all the grass and leaves! A++++

Oh Susie, how did you know this card is exactly what I needed to see today. And how did you know the middle bird is exactly how I look today! Sigh! I needed my frown turned into a smile, and this fabulous card of yours did the trick! I absolutely love that you wrote the "you are my sunshine" poem into the background before water coloring it. I love how vibrant and real you grass looks. I do believe blue grass is prevalent in Kentucky. I always here how wonderful the Kentucky Blue Grass is. LOL. I love the colors you achieved in your fall trees, and all the depth of color you got into these wonderful birds. I also love the fence you added. This is a true wow card! ~Karen.

Your card descriptions always make me smiile and have to be fully read. Your Katzelkraft Penguin does look a little uncomfortable with her look! Interested in trying this scruffy writing technique - you certainly rocked the challenge!
