This is for Misti's fun CAS challenge "Apples". Thanks to the encouragement and advice from Nancy CAS Littrell, I actually enjoyed making this card.
If I hadn't made this with my own hands, I wouldn't have known it was mine LOL. My favourite apples are Granny Smiths, but green is too hard for me to colour!!
I stamped Tweetie using Fired Brick (red) Distress Ink. I then smacked the ink pad onto a piece of aluminium foil and squirted a tiny amount of water in one corner. This gave me lots of shades of the one colour.
To get the darker shadow, I blended a tiny bit of walnut stain distress ink into the red ink. Walnut stain was used with a stencil.
I started out with a 4" square of hession...then I heard Nancy's voice (in my head, with an Australian accent of course) telling me "less is more"....so I pulled a few loose strands and the job is done!
Thank you for looking.

Oh my gosh!!! You are the master with those crazy birds!! You may even be better than Tim Holtz with them. You create the most amazing things. When I saw the thumbnail, I thought this was for sure an apple. And what on earth are you using walnut stain for?!! Where do you get these ideas from Susie? Thank you for sharing with us. You not only are such an artist but one with a great sense of humor too. :>)

Oh, Susie!! LOL! I looked at this as a thumbnail and said, it looks like an apple, but it's Susie - so it may be a bird. But no, and then I looked more carefully - and it's a bird!!! I LOVE IT!! And what amazing coloring and depth you've achieved, sis! And even the shine on this little "apple" is amazing. And yes, it's CAS for anyone, no less you!! Just love it! I still can't believe you made one of these to be an apple - totally awesome! And the leaves too! And what a title - I just just can hear you saying, no tweetie, you're not an apple - no way!" Hugs, sis! Another day of delight from you!

So creative, cute and fun, Susie! Your coloring is so layered and blended, it looks glossy! Very nice work. I just love all the ways you are using this chubby bird ... pumpkin, apple, etc. Your cards make my heart smile! xx
