I love the luminous quality of these three pieces and hoped to achieve that. I originally was going to make just one card but ended up with three. I sponged the backgrounds to give them the look of paint. I decided to use Copics to color the poppies as they are “my comfort zone.” When I started to color however, I moved out of my zone. If you are familiar with my coloring style you know that normally I would be very precise and exact. But these called for a painterly feel. I think I colored all three in the time frame of one U2 song! And I went outside the lines! :0 (To be fair, I knew I intended to cut them out.)
Assembling them took more time than anything since it all had to be very precise. I used a square framelit to make the mat and heat embossed the stems in black. The portion on the mat is embossed in white and colored with Copics. This is a technique IÂ’ve been meaning to try.
IÂ’ve also posted pictures of the individual cards. TFL!
