I have never entered the teapot challenge, but when I read about Kathleen's illiness I just had to make her a card to let her know that I care. The problem was that I kept looking through the huge notebook where I stamp a sample of each stamp when I buy it, and nothing seemed right. Then, on my lunch break yesterday I went to the little park by my work and sat by the lake and watched the birds (herons, egrets, ducks and geese) tussel for the title of "King of the rock" in the center of the lake. Boy did I laugh. Which made me think that I wanted to send Kathleen some laughter. So when I got home I found this bird that I drew a few months ago and colored him with copics
....something old that is new for the WT473. Then I checked the SC482 and the layout was perfect. Inside I included this hint for Kathlern's husband. 12 years ago when I had a very tough battle with breast cancer my husband had the cleaver idea of putting 2 thumb tacks in the wall across from my bed and stringing dental floss between them ( I am a dental hygienist so we have a lot of floss). Each day my kids, who were young, picked cards and put them over the floss...some days it was all cards with flowers, or cards that were yellow etc. Great way to display all these cards that the people who care about Kathleen at SPS have made.

The card is bright and beautiful but the lasting memory I will take away from this is your wonderful idea to string cards up in the line of vision. I have a very ill sister and this is such a good idea I will have her daughter install this immediately.

It's wonderful to see so many people at the tea-party this week with their well-wishes and prayers for Kathleen. Your bird is fantastic, Francie - especially with the heart shape inside his wings to go with the sentiment. As an avid bird-watcher I also enjoyed your write-up. Sometimes I think I spend too much time just sitting watching the birds - but it's very therapeutic.
And what a great tip, too! There are so many cards that an idea like that sounds great!!
