This is for our dear Miss Kathleen. She has brought joy to my heart many times with her kind words. She is so good about leaving love and encouragement to so many and we hope to lift her up with the cards we make with love and caring for her.
I tried the technique of putting the ink on the mat and spritzing it with water and then dragging the watercolor paper through it. (I think this SOUNDS easier than it is) My first attempt left me with inky fingers that stayed the same color after washing, so my hubby lent me a pair of latex gloves for the next attempt. The lattice work is a digital background SVG from Birds Cards and I cut it on my Cricut. The label for the sentiment and frame behind it are both Spellbinder Opulent Ovals. I used dimensionals between each layer to give it depth. The flowers (cut from the same background paper) are Punch Bunch and so are the leaves. Once again my husband's imput about placement and balance assisted me to complete this tribute to our dear friend.
Edit: This is how I completed the inside: (Computer generated)
So hold me and I'll hold you
And together we will find
We're just Angels with one wing
We must cling together to fly.

Peggy, this is a beauty! I really like the watercolored background you've done - love it! And I especially loved that you got inky fingers *giggles* wear them as a symbol of your creativity! You also did a splendid job with the punch bunch flowers : ) And of course you know how much I love those fancy dies. Tell Ed, I said he's going to have to start charging a consultants fee *giggle* Actually, I think it's nice that he is as engaged in your craft as he is. I too ask for Vance's input many, many times.
Peggy this is a beautiful card. I know Kathleen will love it.

So elegant!! I love those greens, and the wonderful layering of the decorative ovals and dainty flowers.
Wrinkle free distress, I think? Sounds like it - it's one of my favourite background techniques.

I would say that you 'Aced' your background technique and I know Kathleen will love it. You always have such inspiring sentiments and verses on your cards...but this one is at the top of the heap! Love it all.
