Brianna, 11, drew this turtle for me. I started coloring a few days ago but it wasn't until I saw this image that I got the idea for his shell. The image was originally on notebook paper. After scanning and coloring I used the wrinkle free distress technique with greens and browns to create a mottled colored paper. A separate print was used for the shell. I reprinted the turtle a third time on the colored paper and cut out all the bitty squares. Covered the entire shell with glossy accents, cut it out and adhered to the colored drawing. Thanks for a fun challenge Audrie! And thanks for stopping by.

Another WOW from Brianna and Nancy! Brianna has a very bright future in the world of art. Your ability to turn her wonderful drawings into artistic cards is awesome. What a super partnership.

What a wonderful way to achieve your non Background BG for the turtle's shell. I had to read it a couple of times to get your process, but that is clearly *my* limitation. Your creativity is spectacular - yes you started with a fun image, but you made it really special with your eye to detail. The stitching is such a fun touch!

Looks like you have a budding artist in Brianna!! The process of scanning, coloring and cutting, then the glossy accents, really made this turtle's shell come alive. Absolutely LOVE your stitching!!!
