This week our teaparty is in honour of Trent Baker from Virginia. I hope all of our cards help brighten Trents day as he under goes treatment.
The teapotter story this week was great. We have to get an exotic orchid out of Columbia. The 1947 Cessna has been grounded, so the sisterhood of the travelling teapotters have been asked to get airborne and come to the rescue.
The crew at Trent Air have just been given flight clearance. Young Tina is happily watching the departure of VH-SCS (an Australian registered Piper aircraft). True story, I made up SCS to represent Splitcoast Stampers, VH is the call sign for Australia. I googled VH-SCS and sure enough it is a little crop duster in NSW where Sue28 lives. I digress, back to the card.
To say I had fun making this is an understatement. It took about 2 hours to find a digi stamp suitable for Trent. This is a Mo's Digital Pencil stamp. I paper-pieced yound Tina, except for face, hands, hair and shoes. I scored some cardstock to look like the galvinised metal walls of a hangar. I handmade the Trent Air sign, the signs on the walls were done on the computer. As soon as I saw little Tina looking skyward, I immediately thought of this LdV quote.
I used some liquid pearls on the goggles, hard to see in the photo, which is probably a good thing. I scrubbed some distress ink on Tina's knees and a bit on her jacket. I used a dauber dunked in TH - Black Soot around the edges of all the paper-piecing. I used 3D foam tape for the big sign, but Tina just has a 3D appearance by only sticking her down on one side.
My thoughts were with Trent and his sister Tina (our SCS TMD) the entire time I was making this. It is occassions like this when it is a real honour to be a Teapotter.
Thank you for looking and have a great week everyone.

I love the way this came together, the quote, the research into the crop duster. The corrugated steel hanger is perfect as is the image you found for Tina. Love love love the soiled knees.

You've done it again, Susie! I must say it really shows in your cards how much you enjoy making them and finding just the perfect details. The signs on the door are just great - the Leonardo quote is perfect, and the details on the other side are just fun. So you're sneaking some embossing powder into the cargo! That should be safer than the orchids if you're trying to get past Australian customs! One year they impounded my Christmas card to my BIL because they thought the Flower Soft was organic material. I was a bit annoyed - I always take extra care to make sure there's no wood or leaves or anything on cards I'm sending down under.

Susie, I love your little red-haired mite with her eyes heaven bound.. my husband is a pilot that has been unable to fly for a number of years and his eyes are forever looking upward. He will love your poem (and card) when I show it to him! The details you put into your work are always so amazing and so fun to go back again and again to see each magical addition. Love how you made your walls looking of galvanized metal..(I have been in many a hanger as we used to own a plane) and your Trent Air sign just simply ROCKS!
Your paper piecing and coloring as always is perfection itself!! Above all this card just made me smile and smile as I am sure the reciever will do as well! AND it is a fav for sure! I was going to pin it on my stair step board but not sure it is a stair step card???? Just VERY dimentional?

This is fabulous!!! Love all the details you added in this card.
This teaparty has really hit home with me. It's hard seeing all the beautiful and lovely comments, the thoughts and prayers without welding up with tears. When Sheri wrote the story, I never told her my young brothers name was Travis. Everything turned out perfect!
Thank you for this beautiful creation for my brother!! He's going to love this.
