As soon as I saw the sketch, I started turning it and viola, there it was, a Christmas tree! For the tree, I got out all of my green scraps. Many of these I had already cut into strips. Then I got out five different border punches and started making my layers. I used two layers per punch. The tricky part was trying to cut the diagonal on the strip and still have it look pretty.
After I had assembled my tree, I started decorating. I got out all of my left over pearl flourishes. (I tend to cut a little off each time I use them and of course, I save that scrap!) It took quite a while to match the pearls up to make garland. But I do like how it turned out. Then I added lots of gems. Lastly, I didn't have a star, so I used a Prima center (say it in studs) and added some tiny gems to the center of it also.
I used a Meljen's digi for the kitty in the window and colored with Copic markers. I made the little curtain topper and shaded it just a little. This project was quite time consuming. But I LOVE how it looks. The gems and the pearls catch the light and it really shines!
Thank you so much for a great sketch Taylor! Thank you for stopping by to take a peek!

Kathleen, this tree is right out of the Christmas eve party in the Nutcracker ballet. Each year for about nine years my daughter studied ballet and had a little part in the Hartford Ballet's version. I loved watching the tree grow and it was beautiful just like yours!

Kathleen,
I am so loving this tree - it's really pretty - and I see lots of work! And, I love the kitty in the window. Although, my 2 kitties would be jumping from the window into the tree! Wonderful card!

Kathleen, you are such a clever and creative girl. I love how you made this tree with the sketch. I see why it took a while, too. Wonderful details..nice embellies on the tree and the kitty/curtain are just perfect for this scene.
