Today's free 4 all challenge was to use our embossing folders to create the focal image. Something popped in my head to try the split negative technique with the embossing folders, and I mostly like how it turned out.
I started by inking my cuttlebug folder with white ink and embossing a piece of dark moss cs (I guess this could be called a faux letterpress in reverse??).
Then I cleaned the folder, reinked it with forest moss distress ink and embossed a piece of white cs. Finally, I cut the pieces down and glued them together on a piece of the moss cs.
This wasn't too hard, but matching up the embossing patterns wasn't quite as easy as the regular stamping method of split negative. I ended up overlapping the white on top of the green cs until the patterns matched up....thus I didn't end up with two images like I could have with stamping & heat embossing. But that's o.k. - this was still fun!
Thanks for the prompt Wendy!

This is fabulous - there must be a trick to inking up an EF and making the ink look good - can't tell by looking at any on my cards, but you sure did a wonderful card with it AND the split negative!! Just too terrific for words!
