I grew-up in a family that was filled with jokes and laughter. If you weren't coming up with something funny to say, odds are you were going to risk being the focus of someone else's jokes. You had to be quick on your feet & have thick skin to survive.
So, needless to say, this River City Rubber sentiment seemed perfect when you come from a "pull my finger" type-of-humor family. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty sure my Grandpa had me pull his finger more than once when I was young.
Melvin just looked like he would wear plaid pants (and given that our IC Shop is Plaid Pony Vintage), so I paper pieced his pants & shirt from DP scraps. I used grey and silver pencils to color his shoes and hair. The background was embossed with the Tim Holtz Dot Matrix embossing folder & the sketch is this week's 2 Sketches 4 You using Basic Grey Origins papers.
I hope you enjoy tripping down memory lane at Plaid Pony Vintage and find some inspiration.
***ETA - someone asked what I was going to stamp on the inside. This will be a birthday card for one of the men in my family, so on the inside I will stamp the Inkadinkado Kid Quotes Stamp that says "Happy Birthday! How Many Fingers are you?"

Oh my gosh...this one reminds me of my Grandfather. He was filled with one liners and jokes (not to mention hot air) lol!!! This just brought back some very fond memories. Thanks for making my day!

This is so hysterical! One hasn't lived if they weren't told to "pull my finger" at least once in childhood . . . LOL! That always sent us into giggles when we were little. Yep, I grew up with a grampa (and Dad) that said that once or twice . . . LOL! The world has become too politically correct . . . what's life without a little humor!!
