Thanks Julia for a very creative challenge today, Pendants...this was just what I needed to get into the groove. And thanks again to Roxi for the super great #300 SC.
My ds is beginning his first year in public school as a sophomore. It's been 15 days and he's had 4 tardies! From being laid back homeschoolers to bells has been quite a challenge. He feels talking with a student that needs a bit of encouragement is more important than being 1 minute late for class. While I agree with him, I must support the 'system'. Here's hoping this will encourage HIM!!!
I used domino tile stickers I picked up at a garage sale last w/e. A sweet serendipity...the numbers add up to his age! I mounted them above the yellow panel that was embossed with Tim Holtz's ray design. The bottom panels are from Cosmo Cricket 'Get Happy' paper group. I stamped Imagine (Invoke Arts) at the top, 100% (Cloud 9) on the bottom and used Purple Onion Designs 'Lettera' smalls for the word EFFORT.
Thank you very much for stopping by and leaving a comment. I'll be back in awhile to view all the wonderful creations in the gallery. I've got a lunch with a very important boy...but you bet I'll have him back in time for that bell!!!
Some of you might catch the transparent star over the 'a'...that is for my shining star of a son.

Susan this will definitely give your son that added encouragement to be on time. Love that transparent star for your son. How sweet to add that. This is just fabulous! Hope lunch was good! TFS :0)

Oh Susan - I love your dominos. I'm so glad I found a few moments in the gallery this morning before heading into work and away for the weekend. Your work is always so thought-provoking. Hard one - obviously Andy is right in his priorities, but as you say, you need to support the school system. Within reason. Yikes - I still remember getting in trouble for wearing trousers in to school once. It was exam time, we had snow, I hadn't even been able to get home the night before as the bus to our town had been cancelled, and my dad and I both stayed with friends. I had to walk a mile and a half in the morning, and the head teacher caught me in the locker area changing from warmer cords into my uniform skirt and gave out yards. Now that, I think, was unreasonable - she could have made allowances. Thirty years ago and I still think she was wrong .
Hope you and your shining star had a good lunch date. Have a great weekend, too.

Love the domino tile banner. So cool that it adds up to his age! And great use of all the Tim Holtz products you've used together here! This card has such a great edgy & urban feel.

this is really cool. it is neat how the dots add up to his age, and the star is spectacular on this. I sure hope he adapts well to the new environment of bells and class times. What a great card of encouragement you made for you son.

Finally visiting your gallery and happy to see some new creations. This boldly colored card with your son's name is just wonderful. I hope it touched him as he transitions. My DD is adjusting too from a very small school to over 1000. They are more resilient than we know, but I worry every day about her.
