I wanted to take a break from making Christmas cards and make a card using my 6yr daughter's drawing of her owl. Kaitlyn drew this owl with a pencil on white cs, I took it to work today and shrunk it down to 30% onto GP white cs. I told her I would make several images so she could have some and make some cards too.
I started with the new in color yellow as the base. I layered with chocolate chip cs. The 2 panels with dp is from The Paper Company and layered again with the in color yellow. I then used the CB distressed stripes folder on chocolate chip cs as the strip, then tied hemp around the strip. The image is adhered onto the in color yellow and is raised with 3D squares. I stamped the sentiment with timber brown stazon onto GP white cs. I colored the owl with SU markers and glued 2 googlie eyes. I then decided the owl needed to be on a branch, so I stamped the branch using a clear stamp from Inkadinkado.
I can't wait until Kaitlyn sees what I've done with her owl. This is a keeper. I think I got an artist on my hands, what do you think?
TFL! Have a great day!

Oh how wonderful to see your 6 year old daughter drawing like that already. Great way to continue encouraging her by making a card with her drawing. I'm happy for both of you.

What a great owl for her to draw... really a great drawing for that age to know the parts of the bird like that... super intelligent... Love the card that you made too... and know that both should go into a special place for safe keeping... a wonderful thing to have for future years... love the sharing in your arts.

What an adorable idea to take some original artwork by your little artist and reduce it to reproduce on cards. I am sure aunts, uncles, grandparents, and other family members will adore this card. I see a great future in the artworld for Kaitlyn.
