This is such a great inspiration challenge and there are so many book covers, I chose another Patriotic cover. I just love Patriotic images and colors and it seems a perfect time w/ July 4th just around the corner. I chose This book for its wonderful images.
For my card, I did the "no wrinkle distressing" technique ( love this tech!). I swiped ink pads (Ultramarine, Worn Lipstick & a little Fired Brick) across a craft sheet, spritzed w/ water then placed my white c/s face down and pressed. For best results, don't swipe the colors too close to each other. After my background dried, I stamped the image w/ Indigo pigment ink and embossed w/ cobalt embossing powder.
I used a synthetic paintbrush to paint bleach on the image. Since I used non-waterproof dye inks for my background, the bleach removes the color wherever I paint it. I also dipped the brush in bleach and splattered it over the entire area. The result reminds me of firecrackers exploding all over the sky.
I used a craft knife to cut out the image and leave the balance of the background intact. The main image is attached to white c/s and cut out leaving a narrow border. I used foam tape to attach the image back onto the cut out area, covering it completely. Then another white layer was added and it was edged w/ a red marker.
The red semi circle was cut w/ a Nestie circle. The sentiment was embossed like the image and it's attached under the image layers. One medium and a bunch of tiny stars were punched out of blue and red c/s and attached around the semi circle.
Thanks so much for looking and have a great Saturday.
My blog:The Write Stuff. Sorry! I had to delete a bunch of really old posts from my blog & this is one of them.

This is so creative. I tried the no wrinkle distressing technique and all I got was a blob of color. I love that you cut out the image and then popped it up over the cut out. Wonderful and creative work.

Golly Gee Julie, this is way out there fantastic!!! I don't know how you do these spectacular cards. Like I said before, even though you explain, I just get lost in your cards and can't even imagine how you did it. Superb job and love those stars popping up on the top!!! Love your red/white/blue photo setup too!! TFS!
