This is my all time favorite type of card to make and was I ever excited to see it as the challenge today: Recessed Window for the Try A New Technique Challenge.
To pop up my top layer I use CTMH 3D foam squares - I love them because the package is a variety pack - comes in strips, squares and smaller squares. The little lady bug baby is raised up with another brand that is slightly flatter than the CTMH foam squares.
I haven't peeked at the tutorial yet but I use two different coluzzle cutting templates to make my window openings. (I don't like to look until I have my card done) I stamp the images on the top layer then lay the coluzzle over the cardstock and cut up to the edge of the image. I then take craft scissors to trim around each image.
