Keep on bringing 'em, Stef! These Saturday IC's have been a blast and todays 'cakes' are no exception! I headed off in several directions today before I settled into what you see here...though I had fun along the dead end paths.
My birthday girl is heading to the post office as soon as I get this uploaded. Someone special is having a birthday and I wouldn't want to be late! I must confess I photo shopped the name on the small tag so it wouldn't spoil the surprise!!!. Many of the elements here come from a wonderful book titled Instant Memories Birthdays. I printed the pieces I wanted to use on my printer and commenced to cutting. And in the process, was so delighted to be reminded that as I girl, I LOVED playing with paper dolls. I used Fiskars pinking shears on the paper. Cut one of the floral rosettes (printed larger) and embossed to make a sticker. I had some of the $! store polka dot twist ties. Used a Martha Stewart punch to make the tiny name tag. My Happy Birthday which is the only stamping BTW, is from Anna Griffin inked in VersaColor raven black and embossed. I cuttlebugged the card base with allegro and then inked over the embossed score with ChalkBox lime green. My cutie has a floral halo. The star, candle and polka dots on the dress are all embossed with clear ep. She is popped on foam.
I love the innocence of long ago days...I work very hard to keep it alive in my house of boys...that they would recognize and appreciate the value of it. Let me know what you think, and as always thanks for spending time in my gallery

This is wonderful! Love the collaged paper doll. I was just thinking about paper dolls the other day. When I was around 8 I drew a paper doll and hundreds of outfits and accessories. I dearly wish I had saved her.

Beautiful art, Susan! It very much reminds me of childhood books and the covers of such as 'The Famous Five'. Love all the little details of tag, flowers and cb background. I'm sure the lucky recipient will appreciate it your wonderful card very much.

I always played w/paper dolls as a child, so this is a beautiful card that prompted me, if only for a moment, to revisit those wonderful childhood memories. Great card!

Susan this is wonderful. I wish that it were like the old days. Less materialistic. More realistic. It is frustrating. Everyone trying to keep up with the Joneses. I love this wonderful birthday girl with her fabulous cake. I just got time to play today. 3 days of packing and garage sale. Hope your week has been wonderful. Hugs...
