When I looked at the inspiration piece, to be honest, the first thing that came to mind was a computer whose graphics card was messed up. Heh. But then I thought of an old color challenge that looked a lot like the colors in the piece, and my sadly neglected Touch of Nature stamp set, and a sketch challenge--the strip on the sketch reminded me of the inspiration piece. Ta-dah, triple challenge.
I sponged a lot on the outer edges of pretty much everything--the card itself is sponged with Chocolate Chip around the outside, plus a lot of Sahara Sand in the middle. The bird panel is done the same way with CC on the outside and just a bit of Sahara Sand all over, and then the fern panel just has CC on the edges. I'm not entirely happy with how the bird itself came out though; I couldn't get the color to look how I wanted it and then my blender pen started making the paper pill, so I just decided to quit while I was ahead and go with it. I added just a tiny touch of Mellow Moss and More Mustard to the bird panel to color the leaves and the bird's beak and feet.
I don't know how this happened, but I stuck down all the panels and then used the SAMJ to put on the sentiment and wonder of wonders, it fit so perfectly it was like I'd stamped it first and assembled around it. Serendipity! Initially I wanted that strip to be Blue Bayou and the mats to be Chocolate Chip, but I'm down to teeny scraps of CC until my big SU order gets here next week. I like the way it turned out with the colors this way though.
I talk too much.
